Yolk is a planning app for couples becoming parents, made by Akaash Nanda in Melbourne. This page explains what we collect, why, where it's kept and who can see it. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles. Questions go to hello@yolkparents.com.

The short version

The waitlist on this website

When you join the beta we keep your email address, where you're up to (planning, expecting or baby's here), whether you're the birth parent or the partner if you tell us, which version of this page you saw and the site that sent you. We use it to invite you to the beta and to learn which messages work. We'll only email you about Yolk, and you can ask to be removed at any time.

The app

Yolk doesn't ask for a password, phone number or email to use the app. It keeps:

How you're feeling is health information, which the law treats as sensitive. We only keep it because you choose to enter it, and we use it only to show it to you and your partner.

All of this is stored on your phone. When you pair with your partner using an invite code, it is also stored in our database so the two phones stay in sync. Only the two phones in your pair can read it.

Where it's kept

Our database is run by Supabase, on servers in Sydney, Australia. The website is hosted by our web host. These providers store data for us and aren't allowed to use it for anything else.

Visits to this website

If we measure visits, we use cookie-free analytics that count pages viewed without identifying you.

Usage counts

We don't currently collect analytics inside the app. If we add counts to see how Yolk is used (for example, how many couples finish a check-in), we'll ask first, count totals only, and never read the content of your answers.

Deleting your information

Settings › Start over clears Yolk on that phone. To delete your shared data or your waitlist entry, email hello@yolkparents.com and we'll do it within 30 days. You can also ask us what we hold about you, or to correct it.

Not medical advice

Yolk links to trusted Australian health services but doesn't give medical advice. If you're worried about your health or your baby's, talk to your GP, midwife or Maternal and Child Health nurse.
